Adults who abuse ADHD meds

I think that with a healthy lifestyle, learning to manage stress effectively, and prioritizing you can overcome this disorder without resorting to prescription medications. I know people who are prescribed Adderall and other meds to help with their ADHD, but are actually worse off when they take them. This is a serious problem. I am a medical student, and I suffer from ADHD I have managed to successfully complete my Associate's degree, without medications. Human beings ultimately have free will, which allows us to make choices. Counseling and cognitive therapy are a much healthier option for treating ADHD in adults and children. Adderall is a controlled substance, and where I live it is frequently abused.

Questioning statement
by: Anonymous

I have to question your statement that "adults abuse ADHD meds" based solely upon your experience at such a young age. Have you investigated this question on a national basis reviewing the tens of thousands of people who have improved their lives with these medicines? Have you talked to the hundreds of doctors who have learned how to help their patients as they carefully determine which specific medicine to use on each patient?

Or are you willing to accept the responsibility of just one person who could have been helped by using a medicine, but because of your statements ruins their life trying to avoid good help?

I would just recommend that you be careful in making these statements in the future.
