i am 12 and have suffered from ADHD symptoms all my life. I recently stared using concerta XR ( extended release)and have felt great. I went from getting B's, C's and the occasional A ( school grades) to A's and the occasional B. focusing is very easy and, surprisingly enough, has helped me be more patient with smaller children, homework, ect. Concerta is a stimulant and many people are against that, but it is only stimulating the prefrontal cortex ( the section of the brain that ADD and ADHD effects) so to someone with ADD or ADHD it is not addicting (or at least in my case). the only side effect that i have really taken any notice of are loss of appetite, drowsiness at certain times of the day (only for about an hour however), and in the first week or two, dry mouth. I personally would suggest this to anyone who is seeking a medicinal treatment for ADD/ADHD.
**Disclaimer/Correction: Concerta is a stimulant and stimulants are addictive. The stimulation not only happens in the brain but also the whole body. This is proven by the lost of appetite and energy felt throughout the whole body. That is why when the drug is stopped, one tends to eat a lot and sleep a lot.
The 2 mentioned above are a inaccurate statements made by the poster and corrected in the disclaimer/correction.
Now we don't have the teacher calling us to tell us what he did wrong in school but to give us glowing reports of how wonderful it was to have him in school!
