Victory Over ADHD
April 29, 2010

I have been sitting on a book called Victory Over ADHD by Deborah Merlin for about 6 months. Wow time flies when you don't pay attention. One of the reasons is because I moved shortly after I received the book. I just forgot about it.

I went and dug it out and started to read it. Just in the first chapter alone, may be the answers you are looking for to help with ADHD. It has additional information that I didn't know about but some of my recommendations may already provide solutions for.

She also says the same things I am saying on my website which is great to have someone doing their own research to end up at the same place I am.

Ok, more specifics. In the first chapter, she tells about her struggle with her premature twin baby boys and then their and her health problems. Information about health during that time wasn't so readily available, so she had to do some expensive research and trial by error.

Both of her sons have ADHD and one of them had a bad behavior problem. If you have a child with a behavior problem, you must get this book. It is going to give you insight into many issues that you can look into which could be the root cause of the problem.

I haven't had a lot of answers on bad behavior problems before reading this book. Now I have direction to send parents in.

As she did more research and consulting with health care providers, she found more things at the root of her and their health problems. As she notes, there isn't just 1 thing to fix or a magic pill.

When you get this book and read it, you will learn about all of them and resources for the testing needed to see what is going on.

One of the things that struck me that I didn't even know about was a deficiency in Amino Acids. People post information on adhdawareness.com and sometimes Deborah Merlin, the author of Victory Over ADHD, says in response, get an Amino Acid Panel test done. Well now I know why.

A deficiency in various Amino Acids can cause different problems, like behavioral problems. Something I found fascinating is that the excellent Jay Robb's protein powder that I use and recommend, has most of the Amino Acids that your body needs. Hopefully the body is in a good place to where it can assimilate it. If not, then you will have to read her book to see what her answer was.

Heavy Metals toxicity is another issue that I discuss which she mentions in the book. She also talked about how she detoxed from the heavy metals. In my herbalist training, I learned of another method of detoxing and removing heavy metals but the removing of heavy metals of this way is not good for diabetics.

All the other chapters look great with a good amount of quality information. I only finished up through chapter 3, so that is all I can report on.

Take a look at some of her articles on her website. Good reading on the topic of ADHD. http://www.victoryoveradhd.com/articles.html
